I cannot explain how excited I am for this. I wish I had the words. I am going to start a 365 project on January 1st. What is a 365 project you may ask? Well, it is where you take a photo every day for an entire year. You get to set the rules beyond that. You don’t need to have a theme, a subject, or even professional photography skills. Just go out and shoot.
Now, for those who know me, you may know that I attempted this a few years back, before I really got into photography. I give this project credit for being my catalyst to discover my passions in photography. The only thing is, I wasn’t dedicated to it at the time. I made it about 150 days in, and missed a day. Worst feeling ever. I was disappointed in myself, so I gave up, deleted the photos, and frankly pretended like I had never attempted, therefore never failed.
The differences this time are as follows:
I lost the ability to use my camera for a few weeks due to the numbness in my hand, but the functionality is back and I’m not going to waste time with my ability back. I didn’t realize just how much photography meant to me until I couldn’t do it.
Kaitlyn is doing it with me too, so I have someone to kick my butt when I don’t have motivation, as will she.
I have more free time and freedom to go out and take photos since I live in a dorm and I don’t have a crazy schedule filled with high school extracurriculars.
So, yeah. This is just the heads up that this is going to be a thing, and while I will post them on Facebook in an album everyday, I’ll also put them up here at the end of each month. If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to join in. I’d love to see how you document your life for a year.
