Monday. This is a word that typically brings shudders and moans from students and adults alike. For many of us, this means the beginning of another long week filled with work before our break over the weekend begins. The truth is, dreading Mondays doesn’t make going back to class or work any easier. Yes, I know starting a Monday off with a good attitude is easier said than done. It seems as if our brains are programmed to be in a bad mood on Mondays.
With that in mind, here is something to make our Monday a little easier. Keep in mind, it’s just another day.
I know Mondays are supposed to be awful, but think about it this way. According to statistics, we’ve been looking at this all wrong for quite some time now. There will be over 5000 weddings today, 10,000 childbirths, and 42 million hugs occurring today throughout the United States. There will be at least 4 people who will win the lottery and 600 people will get promotions at work. There will be 600 dogs adopted, 35,000 balloons sold, and 800,000 skittles sold. (That one is extremely important to know.) Plus, the words “I love you” will be said over 9 million times. 9 MILLION. (I probably contribute to about 500 of those because if I love you, I’ll remind you constantly.) So again, I know today is Monday and you assume it is going to be rough, but just smile, because according to statistics, it should actually be a really nice day.
Start your morning with your favorite song, dress up a little to make you feel ready to take on the world, and go out there to have a good day and make someone else’s a little better. Give a hug, a smile, tell someone you love them, or even pay for a stranger’s coffee. Acts of random kindness can do more than you know.
Have a great day everyone. :)
